Passport Changes

Following discussions over the last two committee meetings, we are in the throes of redesigning our passports to meet some of the new issues associated with EU legislation and DEFRA guidelines. These new style passports were issued for the 2005 foal registrations Further changes and a new Passport cover will be available for 2009 Registrations.. For the most part, the differences will be subtle, but will include a special page for grading results, a better display of the pedigree data and some additional wording in French to meet international standards. The most noticeable difference will be the addition of a separate ownership document, filed within the back page of the passport, which will define the ownership of the horse and must be held by the owner at all times. Given the current requirement for the horse passport to accompany the horse at all times, it will be necessary, for reasons of security, to retain the ownership document in a safe place when the horse is away from its home.
Registration of changes of ownership will be conducted as now, with the passport and studbook record adjusted accordingly but the transfer of ownership will also be accommodated and validated by the WBS- UK on the ownership document.
